San Vincenzo prepares for the blooming of 35,000 tulips

In San Vincenzo, in the Santa Costanza area, 35,000 rare tulip bulbs have been planted as part of the “Wander and Pick” project, for the first time on the Etruscan Coast. Between the end of March and the beginning of April, the area will become a flower park open to the public: visitors will be able to walk among the tulips and pick them in exchange for a donation. The first buds have already sprouted: flowering is now just around the corner.
Thousands of bulbs are breaking the silence of the cold season. The first shoots have already appeared, shy yet determined, heralding a bloom that in just a few weeks will transform the landscape of San Vincenzo into a vibrant expanse of colour.

Just a few kilometres from Bolgheri, between the sea and the countryside, a small seasonal transformation is about to unfold.
In the Santa Costanza area of San Vincenzo, around 35,000 rare and ancient tulip bulbs have been planted. Today, the first shoots are emerging from the soil, heralding a bloom that, between late March and early April, promises to turn the landscape into a vibrant expanse of colours and fragrances.

The “Wander and Pick” project

The initiative is part of the “Wander and Pick” project, now in its ninth edition and hosted in San Vincenzo for the first time. After bringing colour to squares and streets in several municipalities around Florence, the format arrives on the Etruscan Coast with an even more immersive proposal: a true organic park dedicated to rare tulips.

The project has been developed in collaboration with the association Le tribù della terra P.A.C.M.E. and forms part of a broader scientific research programme conducted by a group of environmental researchers. At the heart of the study is the use of biological microbial colonies in widespread gardens, both in open fields and in pots, to experiment with new sustainable practices in green care.

This is not simply a floral event, but an experience that weaves together beauty and innovation.

An experience to share

The concept is simple yet engaging: stroll among the blooming tulips and, if you wish, pick them by making a voluntary donation to the association.

A gesture that makes each visitor an active participant.
Not just a spectator of an ephemeral landscape, but a protagonist.

The garden will be open to the public between March and April and will offer a programme of activities that goes beyond simple contemplation:

• educational activities for schools
• interactive workshops
• moments dedicated to health and science
• immersive nature experiences

A project designed for adults and children, residents and visitors alike, with the aim of enhancing Santa Costanza by temporarily transforming it into a place of encounter and discovery.

In a territory known above all for wine, olive oil and the sea, the tulip bloom adds a new shade to the landscape. One more reason to plan a visit between Bolgheri, Castagneto Carducci and San Vincenzo, and be surprised by a corner of Tuscany that continues to reinvent itself without losing its authenticity.
